Q for a Cause
The third annual Q for a Cause fund raising event was held Saturday, October 25th at Cottonwood Bar & Grill at 3422 N Sheperd in Houston. 1,500 pounds of meat was smoked by Austin’s John Mueller with help from Wes Jurena of Pappa Charlie’s Barbeque and Neil Strawder of BigMista’s Barbecue. Strawder flew in from Los Angeles just for the event. Ronnie Killen was scheduled to attend but was available only briefly due to other commitments.
Brisket, beef ribs, sausage, boudin, and turkey were offered as meat choices. Sides included chipotle coleslaw, Pappa Charlie’s mac & cheese, and pecan pie. A silent auction was also held to raise funds and the Texas Fallen Heroes memorial wall was on display to pay tribute to those lost.
The fundraising was in support of U.S. Vets, to benefit Houston’s homeless veterans.

A live band entertained guests while drink specials were offered throughout the event. A number of U.T. fans were on hand to watch the Texas-Kansas State football game as well.
