BBQ Godfather is one of two barbecue joints making the move out of The Woodlands and closer to Houston. While technically both joints were in Spring, Texas they were on the very edge of The Woodlands. The moves will put both locations less than five miles closer to Houston, near FM 2920 and the new Grand Parkway.
BBQ Godfather moves to Bernie’s Backyard, a truck park located at 22318 I45 North, about four miles closer to Houston, and will re-open on July 3rd 2015. Information available on BBQ Godfather’s Facebook site. BBQ Godfather received a 4 star review in February from Texas Monthly’s barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn.

Will and Nichole Buckman are also moving their business, Corkscrew BBQ, out of its small location in the Woodlands. In what is surely the dream of any food trailer or food truck owner they will be opening in a permanent restaurant building, the former Hyde’s Cafe building in Old Town Spring which is less than five miles from their current location. The popularity of Old Town Spring, combined with their current reputation for quality and the addition of dinner service on Friday and Saturday should bode well for the business. Corkscrew will close on August 1st and the new location is expected to open in September. Additional details of the Corkscrew move in articles from J.C. Reid
of the Houston Chronicle and Eric Sandler
of Culturemap Houston.
