The fourth annual Q for a Cause charity barbecue event was held Saturday October third at Lucky’s Pub downtown at 801 St Emanuel Street, just across the street from Pappa Charlies new location.
The event was organized by Eat for a Cause and proceeds benefited US Vets, a charity that assists homeless veterans and serves over 300 veterans in Houston daily. US Vets also helps with transitional and permanent housing.
Eight pits were overseen by special guest John Mueller as more than 1,500 pounds of meat were smoked for the crowd. Also assisting were Wes Jurena, Jared Jurena, and Jim Buchanan of Pappa Charlies. Patrick Feges was scheduled to attend but other commitments precluded his participation.
Volunteers served up meats and sides to the hungry crowd throughout the day while tasty pies from Royer’s Cafe in Round Top were also available by the slice or whole. A silent auction helped add to the charitable event and Lucky’s showed college football their many TVs during the afternoon.
